This medicine combines three powerful antimalarial agents: Sulphadoxine (500mg), Artesunate (200mg), and Pyrimethamine (25mg), to effectively treat malaria caused by the Plasmodium falciparum parasite. Sulphadoxine works by inhibiting the synthesis of folic acid essential for bacterial growth. Artesunate, derived from the Artemisia annua plant, disrupts the parasite's cell membranes, leading to its destruction. Pyrimethamine impedes the synthesis of DNA and RNA in the parasite by blocking dihydrofolate reductase. Together, they provide a strong and synergistic action against malaria.
